Abrasion Resistant Rubber Sheet

Natural rubber compound for chute liners, shot blasting chambers and high-wear industrial surfaces.

Abrasion resistant rubber sheet is natural rubber (NR/SBR) compounded at high polymer concentration with specific formulation to maximise resistance to surface wear, cutting and impact. It is the specification material for applications where rubber components face continuous contact with abrasive media like shot blasting chambers, ore chutes, conveyor skirting, hopper liners and mining equipment surfaces. Duratuf's abrasion resistant range, the Abra series, spans five grades from Abra40 Pro to Abra38 Max, covering tensile strengths from 15 MPa to 24 MPa and Shore A hardness from 38° to 60°. Each grade is formulated for a specific balance of hardness, tensile strength, and elongation suited to distinct wear and impact conditions.

What is an Abrasion Resistant Rubber Sheet?

Abrasion resistant rubber sheet is a premium natural rubber (NR/SBR) compound manufactured to resist surface degradation from repeated contact with abrasive particles, sharp edges or sliding media. It is distinguished from general-purpose rubber sheet by higher polymer concentration, high tensile strength and controlled Shore A hardness optimised for the wear mechanism in the target application.

Standard general-purpose rubber sheet (2-3.5 MPa tensile) fails quickly in shot blasting, chute lining and mining applications because it lacks the tensile integrity to resist tearing under abrasive contact. Abrasion resistant grades (15-24 MPa tensile) extend service life by 2-3× or more in the same conditions.

The correct abrasion resistant rubber grade depends on two variables: hardness and tensile strength. Harder grades (60 Shore A) resist surface cutting and sliding abrasion better in dry, high-velocity media zones. Softer grades (38-40 Shore A) absorb impact energy more effectively and resist tearing under dynamic, repeated shock.

Ideal for:
  • Shot blasting chamber liners and cabinet walls
  • Conveyor skirting and impact pads
  • Mining chute liners, hopper lining, and ore handling
  • Industrial floor protection in high-footfall heavy-duty zones

How do we ensure certified quality in our Abra Rubber Sheets?

Careful testing

Tensile Strength Tested Per Batch

Every Abra grade batch tested for tensile strength per ASTM D412. Observed values consistently exceed specified minimums, documented and available on request with every shipment.

No compromise

REACH & RoHS Certified

Free from restricted and hazardous substances. Batch certificates and compliance documentation available with every shipment for export and regulated industrial procurement.

Consistent hardness

Hardness Verified Per Grade

Shore A hardness measured per ASTM D2240 on every production batch. Hardness consistency is critical for abrasion-resistant applications, a soft batch in a shot blasting chamber fails rapidly.

Transparent processes

Specific Gravity Controlled

SG values from 1.10 down to 0.98 for Abra38 Max, precisely controlled compound density that directly determines the weight-to-performance ratio of the installed sheet.

Major Industrial Applications of Abrasion Resistant Rubber Sheet

  • Abrasion-Resistant Liners & Skirts: Perfect for chutes, hoppers, conveyor skirt boards, and shot blasting cabinets, these sheets protect equipment from continuous wear during material transfer and handling.
  • Vibration & Impact Absorption: Used as impact pads, mechanical bumpers, and anti-vibration mounts under heavy machinery or in dynamic zones, reducing mechanical shock and extending equipment life.
  • Industrial & Utility Flooring: Offers rugged performance in warehouses, workshops, gyms, and transport vehicles, acting as durable flooring or matting in high-traffic and heavy-load zones.
  • Color-Coded Safety & Hygiene Applications: Available in Tan, Red, Off White, or Pink variants for HACCP-regulated, food-adjacent, or pharma zones, ensuring non-marking use and visual segregation for safety.
  • General Sealing & Buffering: Ideal for dynamic gaskets, belt seals, scrapers, isolation pads, and base support layers, especially where more durability is required than standard rubber grades.
Abrasion Resistant Rubber Sheet Applications

Key Features of Duratuf Abra Rubber Sheets

Duratuf Abra rubber sheets are designed to deliver performance in heavy-duty industrial and commercial setups. Some features of our natural rubber sheets are:

15-24 MPa Tensile Strength Range

The Abra series spans 15 MPa (Pro grades) to 24 MPa (Abra38 Max) tensile strength, above general-purpose natural rubber (2-3.5 MPa). Higher tensile directly translates to longer service life under abrasive contact.

2-3× Longer Service Life

Abrasion-resistant NR compounds can deliver 2-3× the wear life of standard rubber in sliding abrasion or shot blasting areas, reducing replacement frequency and downtime in high-wear applications.

38-60 Shore A Range

Hardness selection from 38° to 60° Shore A covers the full spectrum from maximum flexibility and impact absorption (38-40°) to firm surface abrasion resistance (60°). Match hardness to your wear mechanism.

REACH & RoHS Compliant

Free from restricted and hazardous substances. Compliance documentation and batch certificates with every shipment for export and regulated industrial procurement.

When you buy Duratuf natural rubber sheets, you invest in productivity and performance equally.

Frequently Asked Questions: Abrasion Rubber Sheets

Abrasion rubber sheets are made of premium quality natural rubber with some compounds and fillers.

Abrasion resistance in rubber sheets is measured by pressing a sample against a rotating abrasive drum in a DIN tester. The resulting volume loss is calculated in cubic millimeters (mm³).

The available thicknesses for Duratuf Abra rubber sheets are: 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm.

Abrasion resistant rubber sheets are specially meant for heavy-duty uses with up to 800% elongation, more than natural rubber sheets. While ordinary natural rubber sheets are good for standard industrial applications, Abra rubber sheets are better in sand, shot blasting, and abrasive conditions.

Abrasion resistant rubber sheets stay durable for a long time when each abrasion resistant rubber roll is stored under optimum conditions, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, steam, UV rays, Ozone, etc. For more detailed info, you can directly contact our representatives.

Yes, Duratuf Abra rubber sheets can be customized as you require in terms of dimension, thickness, color, fabrication, etc. It is better to contact us before you proceed.

We have Abra rubber sheets in various thicknesses, like 38° Shore A, 40° Shore, and 60° Shore A. We understand that it can be confusing for you to choose among so many options. But now you can book a free video call with our product experts to know which one will fit your applications better.

The lifespan or durability of Abrasion rubber sheets depends more on their usage, storage conditions, and other conditions. But the typical abrasion resistance of rubber may last up to 2-3 years.
