Hypalon (CSM) Rubber Sheet

The only elastomer combining oxidizing acid resistance with UV and ozone immunity, the standard specification for outdoor chemical environments.

Specified where exposure to oxidizing acids, UV radiation, and ozone occur simultaneously, conditions that eliminate EPDM, neoprene, and natural rubber from consideration. Chosen by chemical plant engineers, marine fabricators, and infrastructure contractors in 65+ countries.

What is a Hypalon (CSM / Chlorosulfonated) Rubber Sheet?

Hypalon is the industrial trade name for CSM, Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene, a synthetic elastomer originally developed and registered by DuPont. The technical polymer designation is CSM under ASTM D1418. It is manufactured for environments where ozone exposure, UV radiation, & chemical aggression occur in combination: conditions that degrade EPDM, neoprene, & standard rubber compounds within months.
The chlorosulfonyl groups in the polymer backbone give Hypalon rubber its defining property: resistance to oxidizing acids, including nitric acid and sulfuric acid, at concentrations where most elastomers swell and lose tensile strength. Combined with near-complete UV and ozone immunity, this makes Hypalon the specification standard for outdoor chemical containment, marine lining, flue gas systems, etc.
Duratuf Hypalon sheets are supplied as 100% CSM compound. No blended or diluted formulations. Operating range: -30°C to +130°C, with smooth plain finish on both sides for sealing and lining applications.

Ideal for:
  • Chemical tank and vessel lining in acid-handling plants
  • Flue gas duct lining and exhaust system components
  • Outdoor expansion joints and weatherproof sealing
  • Marine deck covering and hull lining applications

How do we ensure certified quality in our Butyl Rubber Sheets?

Industrial Compliance

100% CSM Polymer

Every batch compounded at 100% chlorosulfonated polyethylene — no blended grades. Polymer purity verified before production release.

Tolerance Testing

Oxidizing Acid Immersion Test

Sheets tested in nitric and sulfuric acid solutions to confirm no swelling, no tensile loss, and no surface degradation under sustained chemical contact.

Consistent Products

UV & Ozone Exposure Testing

Accelerated UV and ozone chamber testing confirms no surface cracking, colour change, or hardness shift — critical for outdoor and marine applications.

Transparent Processes

Density & Dimension Verification

Specific gravity confirmed at 1.30 ± tolerance and sheet dimensions verified with precision instruments on every production batch before dispatch.

Key Features of Duratuf Chlorosulfonated (Hypalon Rubber) Sheets

Duratuf Hypalon sheets are designed to deliver performance in harsh environments, where there is constant chemical exposure. Some features of our Hypalon rubber sheets are:

Oxidizing Acid Resistance

Resists nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and chromic acid at concentrations that destroy EPDM, neoprene, and nitrile, the primary specification driver for chemical containment duty.

UV & Ozone Immunity

The CSM polymer backbone is inherently resistant to UV radiation and ozone attack. No surface cracking or hardness shift under continuous outdoor exposure unlike NR, SBR, and neoprene.

-30°C to +130°C Operating Range

Maintains sealing integrity and mechanical properties across a wide thermal range, suitable for both outdoor cold-climate service and moderate industrial heat duty.

REACH & RoHS Compliant

Free from restricted and hazardous substances. Batch certificates and compliance documentation available with every shipment for regulated procurement requirements.

When you buy Duratuf rubber sheets, you invest in productivity and performance equally.
