Frequently Asked Questions

Class 2 mats are rated for a maximum use voltage of 17,000 V AC, with a proof voltage of 20,000 V and a dielectric withstand of 30,000 V.

Yes. Class 2 is the standard specification for 11 kV substations worldwide, as the 17 kV maximum use voltage provides the necessary safety margin above the 11 kV operating level.

The recommended thickness for Class ASTM D178 mats is 6.4 mm.

Yes. AmeriVolt can supply Class 2 mats in widths up to 1,220 mm and lengths up to 30 m, in custom colours and both-sided anti-skid designs. Custom quotes are available for orders above 300 sq m.

If the maximum voltage at your worksite is up to 17 kV, Class 2 is sufficient. If voltages reach up to 26.5 kV, you need Class 3. Always specify the maximum possible voltage, not just the normal operating voltage.
